The Design Factory
field notes on taste

taste, encoded · est. 2026

Design that looks decided, not defaulted.

A living system that gives every screen we build a point of view, instead of the average of everything a machine has ever seen. Grown from your taste, tended over time.

The generic look is a model guessing: the same fonts, the same gradients, the same three cards, on every site that let a machine decide. This factory exists so nothing we ship is a guess.

Taste gets written down, mistakes become rules, and every reaction teaches the system. The machine, told what good means.

the system · five layers

Read from the ground up

i.

Taste Library the why

What each project looks like when it is most itself, written down. References decomposed by type, color, layout, and motion, so intent outlives the moment it was born in.

ii.

Design Memory per project

Exact tokens and the reasoning behind them, living in each project. The first thing read on any visual task, so the fifth screen still matches the first.

iii.

Component Catalog the parts

Reusable, tested recipes shared across every project. Build once, adapt everywhere, never reinvent the same button twice.

iv.

Design Lessons the scars

Every mistake and its correction, kept. A thing that went wrong once becomes a rule that holds forever after.

v.

Verdict Loop the learning

Every reaction captured and promoted, praise and rejection both. The factory converges on one taste instead of starting from zero.

Good design is like this leaf: structure you can feel, even when you never look closely.

the promise

What this factory will never grow.

Not taste as a vibe. A deterministic list, checked on every build before it reaches you.

  • Purple and indigo gradients
  • Fonts nobody chose
  • Three feature cards by reflex
  • Floating gradient orbs
  • Untouched template defaults
  • Everything fading in at once
  • Empty screens with nothing alive in them
